New Payout Rule 2024 – Team Roping
A new team roping payout has been put in place in the IPRA Rulebook, starting the 2024 season. The new prize money payout breakdown is based on total purse as follows:
- $349.99 and less pay 1 place
- $350 – $799.99 pay 2 places, divided 60-40
- $800 – $1,299.99 pay 3 places, divided 50-30-20
- $1,300 – $2,499.99 pay 4 places, divided 40-30-20-10
- $2,500 – $4,999.99 pay 6 places, divided 29-24-19-14-9-5
- $5,000 or more pay 8 places, divided 24-19-16-13-10-8-6-4
Youth Events
Payouts of standard events will be based on the breakdown as stated in the official IPRA Rulebook.
Youth events consisting of:
- Junior Barrel Racing (JBAR)
- Junior Bull Riding (JBR)
- Steer Riding (SR)
- Calf Riding (CR)
- Junior Pole Bending (JPB)
will be paid out as follows:
- 5 or less contestants, pays 2 places
- 6 – 10 pays 3
- 11 – 20 pays 4
- 21 – 40 pays 6
- 40+ pays 8
Please note that individual rodeo circuits may keep points for participation in order to qualify for their finals. Please refer to those websites for standings.
Gymkhana Events
For convenience, sanctioned IPRA Canada rodeos having gymkhana events (pickup race, exchange race and pony express disciplines), are paid via the entry system used by the IPRA. Please refer to gymkhana sanction websites for standings.
Payout Structure

5 or less pays 2 (60%, 40%)
6-10 pays 3 (50%, 30%, 20%)
11-20 pays 4 (40%, 30%, 20%, 10%)
- 21-40 pays 6 (29%, 24%, 19%, 14%, 9%, 5%)
- 41-60 pays 8 (23%, 20%, 17%, 14%, 11%, 8%, 5%, 2%)
- 61+ pays 10 (24%, 19%, 16%, 13%, 8%, 6%, 5%, 4%, 3%, 2%)
